A clause is a group of words that contains a verb (and usually other components too). A clause may form part of a sentence or it may be a complete sentence in itself.

About clauses, it is not correct:

• A. Every sentence contains just one main clause. A main clause may form part of a compound sentence or a complex sentence, but it also makes sense on its own.
• B. A simple sentence (also known as an independent clause) is the basic building block of all sentences. It must have a main verb/verb group and a subject, and it must make complete sense on its own. 
• C. Compound sentences are made up of two or more main clauses linked by a conjunction such as and, but, or so, as in the following examples: I love sport and I‘m captain of the local football team.[main clause] [conjunction] [main clause]
  She was born in Spain but her mother is Polish. [main

• D. In Her father died when she was very young,. we have:
  Her father died (main clause)when (subordinating conjunction) she was very young (adverbial clause)
  
• E. A complex sentence consists of an independent clause (simple sentence) and one or more dependent clauses (subordinating clauses). The dependent clause is introduced by either a subordinate conjunction (for an adverbial clause) or a relative pronoun (for an adjectival clause).
