John is a conscientious student.     Esse tipo de questão é conhecida em Inglês como “Cloze Question". Uma “cloze question" é um exercício, teste ou avaliação que consiste em um texto com certos itens ou palavras removidos, cujas lacunas o candidato é solicitado a preencher. As palavras são excluídas do texto seletivamente, dependendo exatamente de qual aspecto o examinador deseja testar. “Cloze questions" são questões desafiadoras, pois exigem a capacidade de entender o contexto e o vocabulário a fim de identificar o item lexical excluído.

    Se analisarmos o trecho acima em Português, podemos verificar pelo contexto que Lia é uma leitora diligente, e utiliza várias táticas para interpretar um texto. Quando fica intrigada com o conteúdo, tenta parafrasear e busca pistas no ____???
    Às vezes, quando não entendemos um texto em sua totalidade, é muito comum dizermos que pelo contexto conseguimos captar a mensagem. Pois é exatamente isso que Lia faz. Busca pistas no contexto. No dicionário (alternativa C) ela não buscaria pistas, e sim significado.
    Para te dar um exemplo bem concreto:
    Digamos que você se depare com a seguinte sentença: “Aquele homem é uma pessoa prava. Faz mal até a animais e criancinhas, criaturas tão inocentes... Sua irmã, ao contrário, é uma pessoa tão bondosa!"
    Você provavelmente não saberia o significado da palavra “prava", mas pelo contexto pode deduzir que é “má".

    Analisando as alternativas, teremos:

    B) CORRETO - context  = contexto
