  Context is everything in second language teaching. It's no use dedicating hours to grammar and all its inherent intricacies if the application of its rules never sees the light of day. Communication-minded activities and discursive practices are much better barometers to gauge the efficiency of the learning of the target-language, which should always go well beyond the bromidic scenario of the bored students struggling to make sense of a bunch of foreign-looking words with little regard to its use as a communication means
